Understanding Vietnamese economy through the ancient quarter

Hey guys! Today we have reached Hanoi and we experienced new stuff. We went around the ancient quarter by cyclo. Ancient quarter was established in the 13 century and it consists of 36 streets where 36 different trades were located such as, Tombstone carving, silk, sliver, handmade shoes and clothes. However, we could not find any ancient trades like coffins makings, brusher and bamboos as all these trades disappeared when the country develops. Many ancient trades and shops were replaced by more modern buildings like KTV, hotels, fast food resturants to cater to the younger generations. Moreover, two-thirds of the veitnam population is below thirty years old hence they are influenced by the western culture. We think the government should still preserve some of the ancient trades so that the younger generations can learn more about their traditions and cultures.
