Reflection on my hanoi experiential learning - JASLYNN : D

hello peoples. pictures are randomly taken picked out from my camera (:
1st day.
When we first alighted from the aeroplane , the first thing we can conclude is that the weather is freezing cold.
We boarded the bus that we were suppose to board , left our luggage in the bus. Had lunch , and off we go to the temple , knowing more about the stories behind those gods , and the purpose of praying. 2nd activity was the trishaw. This one was of my most memorable experiences , and this was the first time i was sitting on a trishaw. The traffic there was terrible , the first impression they gave me was they they did not care about the lifes of the people who were trying to cross the road , which were really dangerous. When I was on the trishaw , i took many pictures and stuffs that i would never seen them in Singapore. Vietnam was kind of a rural area , which was full of plantations . Went for dinner , the food was acceptable , except that i didn't ate the vegetables. Some of the dishes taste awful though , maybe I was just unable to adapt their food there. Went hotel after dinner , blogged , and went to bed.

2nd day.
Woke up at 7am in the morning. Our breakfast was buffet , which i think it was really delicious. The staff there was also polite to us , and friendly. They would ask us about our whereabouts , and how long we would be there too. Eventhough their English was not that proficient , but we tried to communicate back to them with some basic English and hand signal. First activity in the morning was the visit to Hanoi university of Agriculture. The professor taught everyone of us the culture and the importance of the agriculture in Vietnam.
I have also learned that 71% of people in Vietnam lived in the country side and 2 parts of Vietnam were covered with mountains. They also have natural resources like crude oil , but they did not have the refinement machine to refine it. So , they had to send it to other country to refine it. Forest also covered around 30% of the total area and this leads to many forest fire. After that , we were to Ho Chi Minh's Museum , the secruity there was strict and so , we would have to leave our bags in the bus as they wanted to ensure that we would not take any of the stuffs away. The statues there was meaningful , and beatifully created , which let me understand more about the Vietnamese's life and culture.

Next up was the visit to the prison. There shows how the criminals were locked up and which way they were being punished. The statues was so real and kind of scary for some. Today was a long day as we had alot of places to visit. The teachers let us do some shopping for about an hour. Stuffs sold there was really special which causes me to spend quite alot of money. There were stuffs that i had never seen before. I am also here to apologize to the teachers that we were late for quite a few times. Up next was the water puppet show , and i show this performance. My first time watching puppet show. Through this performance , i had learned alot more about their culture , and their past. This also tells me that the Vietnamese's was very creative and hardworking . Miss Lim spoke to us about punctuality and we were sorry about it. We had also made timer when we were on our own the next few days. Went back to the hotel , and there goes the second day.

3rd day.
There was only a few activity today , but it was a very long day. Visit to the rice farm , and see how they work. We were on a coach trip for about 3hours 30minutes. We also dropped by the Ceramic and hand embroidery workshop. They were really patient by how they sew the work by hands. Their artwork was really beautiful , although the price was a little high , i still think it was worth the price. Continued with our journey to the Ha long bay. Took a short nap on the coach , reached. Went on the boat and off we go. This activity was the one that i enjoy the most. The scenery was really beautiful , i took tons of photos there. We had our lunch on board too. The view here was the view that i might not be able to see it when i go on a trip with my parents. Went into the Thien Cung & Dau go caves , which was all built up naturally with lime stones. Another 3hour was gone when we went back to Hanoi. Dinner was perfect , the meal that i love most. Did the work that we were suppose to and back to the hotel. Packed our luggage and went to bed. End of day 3.

Last day.
Brought down our luggage when we were suppose to have our breakfast. Time was kind of overshort , apologises again. After breakfast , left for the Orphanage of the agent orange. The kids there range from 12 - 17 years old. We went to walked around the Orphange , and look at how they go through their therapy. It was really heartbreaking to see the kids suffering such pain at such a young age. But most of them look normal to us , perfectly normal. They were really pitiful , but cute. Waving to us when they saw us , shouting hello to us. After this , we went down straight to the airport. Here , we bid goodbye to our coach. He was a really friendly and nice guy , god bless him.  Shopped around the airport , and board the plane. Finally reached Singapore , home sweet home.

In conclusion , i hereby thanks for all the teachers for their lecture and care. I would never forget this trip , which we me learn all the stuffs that i would never get to learn it if i were to only read the textbook. This trip also makes me learn to cherish people around us , and treasure everything before its too late. Pictures below , and i should end my reflection here. Lastly , thank you , teachers. :D
