Impression of Hanoi 3e2

HI!
Today, we’ll be sharing on the transport system in Vietnam.
Frequently, we saw many motorcycles (scooters) rather than cars or buses. This shows that motorcycles are an vital form of transportation for the Vietnamese. Though there were bus stops, we didn’t see any buses and it made us wonder whether the bus system was efficient.
I wonder how the Vietnamese could afford motorbikes as it cost about 1200USD and average salary of a local is only about 200USD?
Secondly, as compared with Singapore, our traffic rules were well enforced but the Vietnamese system were disorganized. For example, motorcycles are used to fit in four passengers instead of two passengers. Sometimes, even a baby is placed in the middle during the ride and passengers weren’t wearing any helmet to protect themselves. This is really dangerous as they were risking their lives.
Another example is, neither motorists nor drivers were obeying the traffic rules. At the zebra crossing, pedestrians were not able to cross safely as the drivers and motorists were not giving way to them like how they should in Singapore. Also, motorists and drivers are travelling in all direction, this is dangerous as accidents may happen anytime. Yet, despite all that honking, we don’t see many traffic incidents so this shows how well skilled, patient and understanding all the motorists and drivers are. This also reflects how different the transportation systems are in both Vietnam and Singapore.
